SUPER TROOPERS 2 - FOX SEARCHLIGHT - THEATRICAL CAMPAIGN
The CHALLENGE: Little known cast in a sequel 20 years since the first film was released with a small budget ($13.5m).
The SOLUTION: Sell the fun and the funny while leaning into and eventizing the 4/20 release date. Remind people of why they loved the first cult classic by highlighting the classic Super Troopers hijinks and make this a can’t miss in-theater experience.
The RESULT: Grossed over $15m opening weekend, far exceeding expectations. Made over $31m over its theatrical run, nearly tripling its budget. Teaser garnered over 5.6m views on Searchlight’s official YouTube channel.
DATE ANNOUNCEMENT TEASER:
For the teaser I kept it simple and silly by asking audiences to SHAVE THE DATE.
RED BAND TRAILER:
The goal was to make this the funniest trailer of the year so I opened it with a little “meow” humor and then let the craziness take over.
TV CAMPAIGN:
For the TV campaign, I wanted to showcase the irreverent comedy audiences could expect by packing as many jokes into 30 seconds as humanly possible. Sorry not sorry for the result!
